Pitney BowesChallenge
Stamp Expressions was one of the first steps into cosumer software for Pitney Bowes, as the company has mostly served businesses. To ensure the success of this product, I was given the responsibility of evaluating the usability of the Pitney Bowes Stampexpressions printer and software within a small team of Human Factors Engineers. I was also to architect the supporting material.
Solution
I, in partnership with two other Human Factors Engineers, used the Human Factors Lab in Pitney Bowes to run a series of tests with outside particiapants. We would run a test that lasted a full week and then the prototype was updated to incorporate the design changes that resulted from the findings. We iterated in this way for 4 rounds of testing. For each round, we alternated acting as moderator and observer from behind the two-way mirror.
In addition to running the tests, I designed a tutorial to be included with the software, quickstart guide, and setup instructions for the printer. I used the findings from the tests to aid in the design process, working with a graphic designer and animator in order to develop the materials.
I invite you to launch the flash tutorial for viewing.
